Eyitayo Alimi
Nigeria
Cybersecurity Professional, Cyber Leader at CyberPlanet
Eyitayo is a Graduate of Computer Engineering with over 12 years of experience in information technology.
She is an international speaker and an education advocate. Her quest for knowledge motivated her to embark on virtual reality research that was published as the first virtual reality research work in Africa, which she demystified in her talk on TED.COM.
Joining the One Medical San Francisco team Spurred her interest in protecting personal data and Identifiable Information. Through these experiences, Eyitayo has developed strong project management, cyber security, incident response, and risk management skills. Her current research interest is at the intersection of cybersecurity and human factors, data privacy policy, cyber diplomacy, ethical AI, OSINT, and SOCMINT.
She enjoys education, empowerment, diversity, and gender issues with a passion for women and children. In 2015, she was recognized as Green Champion by the Young African Leaders Initiative of the U.S. State, Department for educating young people about climate change using her artwork.
Eyitayo is passionate about community and she has built technical communities for Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, and more. In 2018, she won a Google Women Techmakers scholarship in recognition of her exceptional academic excellence and her selfless community organizing effort in the field of STEM. In 2019, she was selected for the prestigious TechWomen Emerging Leaders Program by the US Department of State. With an increase in cybercrimes as a result of the uncertainty presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, she keeps researching better ways for everyone to use the internet and devices safely. When she's not hunting cyber threats, she hunts mushrooms, goes hiking, knits, or makes dresses. She's currently the cyber leader at CyberPlanet, where she leads the team that supports non-profits and social entrepreneurs with cyber security education and solutions. Before this, she was a Cloud Solutions Architect at IBM.
